Living Life Thankful

āRejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is Godās will for you in Christ Jesus.ā
1 Thessalonians 5:16ā18 (CSB)
Dreaming of Thanksgiving morning. ā¤ļø
The house is quiet (for now!), the turkey is hopefully thawed, a side or two are preped, and the Thanksgiving Day Parade, dog show, and football games are all on the agenda. The pumpkin pie and Mac & cheese will fill the kitchen with sweet & savory & the smoker will heat up... easy peasy. Thereās just something about this day that makes my heart so happy I can almost smell it cookin' now.
But before the oven gets hot & the house fills with cheers for their team & silly girl giggles, I'll take some time just to be with Jesus & thank Him for this life He has blessed me with.
This is what it might look like...
Thank You for my family. For my children, their health, their lives, their laughter, and the joy You fill them with. Thank You for the protection You place over us every single day, even in ways we never see.
Thank You for the people You bring into our lives who make us laugh until our stomachs hurt, who encourage us, love us, and make ordinary days a little sweeter.
Thank You even for the pruning. You know, those seasons that arenāt exactly fun? The ones where Youāre stretching me, shaping me, and sometimes cutting away things Iād rather hang on to? I may not love the process, but I trust You-the Gardener. I know Youāre making me better, and more importantly, making me more like You so I can do Your will.
Thank You for a home filled with warmth, family and food. For the ability to buy groceries, prepare a meal, and gather around a table. For the little things that really arenāt so littleālaughing, playing, sharing stories, and simply being together.
Thank You, Lord, for this beautiful day that reminds me to stop and notice it all.
Here's the question? Why do we wait for Thanksgiving to be thankful?
What if we woke up every morning with a Thanksgiving heart? Not necessarily with a turkey in the oven (because who has time for that?!), but with that same anticipating spirit of thankfulness.
What if, before reaching for our phones or running through our to-do lists, we spent a few minutes talking to God?
Thanking Him for another day. For the people we love. For the blessings we sometimes overlook.
And talking to Him about the hard stuff, too. The worries, the unknowns, the things weighing on our hearts.
Just talking to Him like Heās our best friend. Because He is. ā¤ļø
I love that Scripture doesnāt say, āRejoice when everything is going greatā or āGive thanks when life is easy.ā
It says rejoice always, pray constantly, and give thanks in everything.
Not just on the fourth Thursday of November. Not just when the table is full and life feels good.
Every. Single. Day.
So hereās my little Thanksgiving challenge for you (and for me!).
The day after Thanksgiving and the morning after that, wake up and pretend itās Thanksgiving. Take a few minutes to count your blessings, talk to God, and thank Him for the life Heās given you.
Even if you havenāt gotten any good news in weeks, you have a killer headache and the day ahead looks a little crazy.
Because a thankful heart doesnāt mean we have a perfect life. It means we recognize the goodness of a perfect God in the middle of our very imperfect one.
Happy thankful life friends! š¦ā¤ļø
And on 11/26/26 may your turkey be juicy, your potatoes be fluffy, your laughter be loud, and your heart be full.
