Finding Hope in Heaven

Life shifts like the tide—breathtaking, unpredictable, and sometimes a little wild. This is a gentle reminder from 2 Corinthians 5:1 that our time here on earth is temporary, but God’s promise is forever. When the waves of life get rough, remember: your body & soul may feel worried & weak, but your hope is anchored in your spirits eternal home- heaven.

“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

2 Corinthians 5:1 ESV

Sometimes life can feel like winds blowing in from a hurricane. Everything moving, everything changing quickly, it's very hard to know what to do. Just when you think you’ve got your feet planted, the next wave hits.

That’s kind of what Paul was talking about in 2 Corinthians 5:1, when he said our bodies are like earthly tents. They’re temporary homes—beautiful, but not built to last forever. Like beach cabanas fluttering in the sea breeze, they offer shelter from the blowing sand & respite from the harsh sun, but eventually, they start to tear, dislodge from the sand & wear thin.

Paul reminds us that beyond our tent is something permanent: a house built by God Himself. A forever home—not made with hands, not fragile or fleeting, but strong and eternal. That truth brings so much peace. It means every ache, fear or worry we face, isn’t the end of the story. It’s just part of the journey toward something far more lasting.

When you witness the raging waves of life, remember—you were made for more than this moment. You were made for forever. And while we live here in these “tents,” we can still let our eternal light shine through us. We can love deeply, create beauty, encourage others, and bring a little spark into the world around us even in the face of uncertainty of the future.

When your tent’s being tugged by the wind, look up. Jesus- The One who made the stars has already built your forever home. For now, keep shining in the mist of difficulty, and let the joy & hope of heaven reflect in everything you do.
