God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth, and rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and every living creature on the ground.”
Genesis 1:28 NIV
In the beginning, God told us to “be fruitful and multiply” and to rule over other living things. When I think of being fruitful and having God’s authority, I think of the obvious- the creation of God followers which in turn makes me think of growth. The Bible says He causes everything to grow.
(1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
There are many ways we can be fruitful in life. Let’s talk about a few.
One way is to put on love (Colossians 3:14) , joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) and thankfulness (1 Thessalonians 5:18). As we live our lives lets let God’s goodness shine through us in everyday ways. In how we love our families, serve others, and put God first in everything. It’s planting seeds of love in every soul we meet. It’s speaking the truth in love, praying for others, and living in a way that points to the hope that truly is found in Jesus and Him alone.
When I think of authority, I think of the Bible where it says, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19). We are being fruitful & multiplying when we don’t let the enemy feed us lies. If we hear the enemy’s lies, we immediately say no and take the authority we’ve been given and put on love. Love is a fruit, it’s always healthy and vibrant, full of light, and always growing.
Be fruitful and multiply the Kingdom of heaven, and let your thankfulness, fruitfulness, and authority in Christ shine today! You can do it!
